Hello and Welcome!
I’ve been involved in special education for more than two decades—both as a parent at the IEP table and as an educator working inside the system. My experience spans from Speech-Language Pathology to teaching K–8 special education students as an Education Specialist.
I founded TheIEPSpecialist.com because I know firsthand how confusing and overwhelming the special education process can be. As a parent, I often wondered:
- Does my child have the right placement and goals?
- Are the accommodations and services truly supporting progress?
- What questions should I even be asking?
Too often, I felt like I was getting only part of the picture. Missing key questions meant missing key services.
From Frustration to Advocacy
That uncertainty pushed me to dig deeper. I earned advanced degrees, gained professional certifications, and spent over a decade working in public schools. I learned the laws that protect students, how IEP decisions are made, and what it really takes to get the right support in place.
Through this journey, one truth became clear: when parents are informed and empowered, children succeed.
My Mission
Parents are their child’s strongest advocates. My mission is to give you clear, practical, and results-driven strategies you can use to confidently participate in your child’s IEP process.
Whether you’re reviewing goals, requesting services, or preparing for your next IEP meeting, my goal is to help you feel supported and informed every step of the way.
A well-designed, individualized education plan doesn’t just change a school year—it can transform a child’s future.
